Exciting Field Trip to Toronto Next Weekend!

Hello!!

The MPA has planned another field trip to Toronto next weekend! The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is re-opening this weekend and there will be celebration and free admission all weekend long.

The plan is to meet in Westdale for lunch at noon on Saturday, November 15th. We will then take an express bus to Union and make our way to the AGO from there.

There will be lots of photo opportunities!

Darkroom Workshops

We will be running workshops in the coming weeks

Tuesday, September 30th 2pm & 5pm at Clubspace.
(Student Centre 2nd floor)
SLR Camera "theory" - how to use your camera: f-stops, shutter speeds, etc.
(bring your camera if you can)

Wednesday, October 1st 2pm & 6pm at Darkroom. (basement of Wentworth Hall)
Film Development - how to develop your black and white film
(bring your film if you have some)

Thursday, October 2nd [2pm: cancelled] & 6pm at Darkroom. (basement of Wentworth Hall)
Printing - how to make prints from your film negatives
(bring your negatives if you have some)

Workshops are free for members, and $2 for non-members.
Memberships cost $30, which includes workshops, darkroom access and use of chemicals and equipment.

We will also be having other special effect workshops including: contrast filters, sepia toning, etc. in the future.

Durring all workshop times, we will be selling memberships, film, paper.

First General Meeting

Hello everyone!

Our first general meeting of the term is being held this Monday, Spetember 15 in Wentworth House B115 (the darkroom). The meeting will begin at 5:30, and then run again at 6:30 for those of you who have class at 5:30.

Come to the meeting to hear details about darkroom membership, workshops, field trips, the MPA gallery, and more.

Along with darkroom memberships, we will also be selling film and paper.

If you weren't able to make any of the Drop-Off days last week to hand your photographs in for the gallery, you have ALL this week to drop off your photographs at The Sil's office.
Just ask for Jeff, and give your photos to him!

The time is coming!!Our long awaited gallery is soon approaching! That means if you are interested in submitting photos for the gallery, we need you to get out there and get clicking! There are NO limits of the number of photos you can submit, however we will not be able to put all of your photographs, due to the large amounts of photographs we get each term.The Exec members will go through your photos and see which ones stand out the most or have an interesting look to them, and will put them up.Some important dates/information for you:Gallery Date: March 26thWhere: in the CLUBS room on the Second floor: MUSC 215 - Clubs RoomSubmitting photos: The Exec team will arrange dates to meet MPA members to take their photographs, we will however be putting more information on how to submit your photos on the website.Remember to keep checking out the website for updated information!www.macphotoclub.blogspot.com

Some more important information to take in below:

First and most importantly, we're having another field trip next monday (the 10th) to Dundurn Castle Area.People should meet in front of the McMaster art Museum at 4pm. It should be a good time to go since there will be a variety of different lighting at this time.We will be getting there by the HSR. We also need to add the times of photo drop off for the gallery:

Information on Michael Reichmann

MICHAEL REICHMANN has been a photographer, writer and photographic educator for more than 40 years. He is a contributing editor to Photo Techniques magazine, a columnist for American Photo magazine, and is the publisher and primary author of The Luminous Landscape web site, the world's largest site devoted to photographic education with more than 1 million visitors each month. In recent years Michael has shot and lead photographic workshops in Antarctica, Iceland, China, The Amazon, Madagascar, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Namibia and throughout the US and Canada. He teaches frequent seminars at home and abroad on image processing and fine art printing.

His DVDs and downloadable video tutorials are a well recognized resource for newcomers to photography as well as more experienced shooters. Michael is also a consultant as well as alpha and beta tester for several of the industry's leading companies. When not on the road Michael makes his home in Toronto and Muskoka, and he operates The Luminous Landscape Gallery and Print Studio in the east end of Toronto. Photography Guild spring Seminar

For those interested photographers!

Dear Faculty member the attached PDT file pertains to the Latow
Photography Guild spring Seminar. This years speaker is Mr. Michael
Reichmann. The Seminar is held on April 26th ,2008 at the Burlington Art
Centre commencing at 9 am and concludes at 4 pm. Registration for
students 21 years of age or younger is $40.00 Dollars including lunch.
Regular advance registration is $75.00 Dollars. The day of admission price is $95.00 Dollars.

The AV festival is from 7pm to 9pm on the same day admission is $ 10.00 Dollars.
The Seminar is highly regarded by photographers in the region and has
been a regular occurrence for 25 years.
Please alert your students of this opportunity. Please note that in
order to qualify for the discount price the student must have a valid
student card with her/ him the day of the seminar and present it the day of the event.

It's finally here!! Our basic How to Use Your Camera workshop

Hi MPA Members!

Hope your semester is going well.

We are holding a basic How To Use My Camera workshop this Saturday!!

During this workshop, we'll cover all your questions of how to use your camera.

Please bring your camera and manual, that way if you have any questions, we can look it up together and show you where to find your answers.

Here is the information you need to know to come to this workshop:


WHEN: Saturday, February 2 (This Saturday)

WHAT TIME? : Come to The Sil's room @ 10 am! It should be only an hour.

WHERE: Come meet us at The Sil's room (McMaster's Student Newspaper) : MUSC B110 ...it's right near the Copy/Print center downstairs.
